Shahid Afridi (شاہدآفریدی), born “ Sahibzada Mohammad
Shahid Khan Afridi ” also known as “Boom Boom Afridi “ He was born on 1 March 1980 in KHYBER AGENCY FATA . He
is from the Afridi tribe of Pashtuns. He is a well-known and ever green Pakistani cricketer . Afridi is married to Nadia and has blessed with four beautiful daughters.
Career:
Afridi started his
cricket career on 2nd October 1996 against Kenya. In October 1996 at
the age of 16 , a new day in the cricket history , a newly 16 years young boy
make his debut and keep his feet on the ground to start his aggreessive
cricketing career. From 1996 till 2013, Afridi has played 27 Test matches , 373 One Day Internationals, 74 Twenty 20 Internationals (T20Is) and 111
First-class matches (FC) and 473 list A matches for the Pakistani national
team. He made his ODI debut on 2 October 1996 against Kenya and his Test debut
on 22 October 1998 against Australia and made his T20i career on 28 August 2006
against England.
Afridi played his first match as leg spinner as a
replacement for the injured Mushtaq Ahmed. Afridi batted at number three as a role of pinch hitter and in his first
international inning , Afridi broke the record for the fastest century in ODI
cricket history , reaching his hundred in just 37 balls. The 11 sixes he smash also
level the record of most sixex in an inning. From then till now Afridi has been
known as the most aggressive batsmen in cricket history. Two years after
appearing on the international scene, he played his first test match. Afridi has been known as an all-rounder for
Pakistan team . Afridi has been consider as a batsmen and also a leg spinner
googly bowler.
Records :
Shahid afridi grasps many
records on his hands in batting as well as in bowling too, he detained the record for the fastest
century in ODI for 17 years , this record now broken by Corey Anderson of New
Zealand . He also holds the record of
having hit the most number of sixex in cricket history.
Captaincy (2009-2011) :
In June 2009 Afridi took over the Twenty 20
captaincy from Younus Khan, and was later appointed ODI captain for the 2010
Asia Cup . On 25 May 2010, Afridi was appointed
captain of the national team in all three formats, after he announced his
return to Test cricket. But he fastly announced retirement from Test cricket
again citing lack of temperament for Test cricket as the reason. Afridi was also named as the captain for the 2011 world cup. He led the cricket team in 2011
world cup.
